Hosting

The site is hosted on Vercel. When you open a page, the server handles the connection. Server logs can include IP address, date, time, the address you requested, browser type, and the page you came from.

This is needed to deliver the page and to keep the service secure. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a working and secure site (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Vercel may process this data outside the EU, including in the United States. Logs are kept for as long as the host needs them to run and protect the service. We do not set a separate period.

Analytics

A script from Umami Cloud is loaded only when this deployment has a website id set. If the id is missing, the browser receives no analytics script. The script address is Umami Cloud at cloud.umami.is unless the configuration points somewhere else. In that case that host receives the request.

Umami Cloud does not set cookies and does not build personal profiles. It counts page views and a few events: cook mode, search, and links that leave the site. Your browser contacts Umami for that. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in anonymous audience measurement (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

Type

Google Sans is included with next/font. The font files are downloaded when the site is built and are then served from this website. Opening a page does not send a request to Google to fetch the font.

Language on your device

When you choose German or English, the browser stores that choice in localStorage under the key meal-club-locale. The value stays on your device and is not sent to our server. On a later visit to the root address, the saved language can replace the browser language. It stays until you pick another language or clear this site's data in the browser.

Kitchen in this tab

On a recipe page the browser stores the chosen number of servings and which ingredients you have crossed off in sessionStorage. The entry lasts only for the open tab and is dropped when the tab closes. It is not sent to a server. Step timers in cook mode run in memory only. They are not stored and start again after a reload.

Cookies

When the site redirects from the root address to /de or /en, it sets a cookie named mc-from-root with the value 1. It lasts 30 seconds, path /, and is sent back only to this site. It marks that the visit started at the root address, so a saved language choice can replace the browser language. The page deletes the cookie right after reading it.

While an access password is set, the site asks for it with HTTP Basic Auth. That is not a cookie. This site sets no other cookies.
